Helps area physicians benefit from federal stimulus funds for EMR adoption
DALLAS—Genesis Physicians Group, cited by area corporate benefits executives as the most innovative independent physicians association (IPA) in North Texas, today announced the launch of GenPro Practice Management Solutions. A joint venture with Wisconsin-based ProSperus, the new physician-support company offers comprehensive medical practice and revenue cycle management. In addition, GenPro provides a la carte services including business consulting, electronic medical record (EMR) systems, IT support, practice data analytics, collections, and human resource functions.
Genesis chose ProSperus to be its practice management partner based on the company’s complete suite of best-in-class software and services, 19 years of market experience, and client base of more than 500 physicians nationwide.
Helping independent physicians remain independent
Ron Lutz, president/CEO of Genesis Physicians Group, said, “GenPro will help independent physicians keep a sharp focus on patient care while our practice support services handle back-office functions. We expect that GenPro Practice Management Solutions will ultimately move physician practices toward world-class clinical, financial and human resource performance in physician offices.”
GenPro services are available to the more than 1,400 members of Genesis Physicians Group throughout North Texas, as well as to non-member physicians in the region. In 2010, the IPA will offer GenPro technology and services to physicians across Texas.
“This stronger, more robust revenue cycle management capability comes from streamlined IT and support systems that can be customized to a physician’s specific practice requirements,” joint venture partner Tom McBride, CEO of ProSperus, explained.
Benefiting from federal stimulus funds
“We were seeking an efficient, integrated and accountable revenue cycle management system,” Lutz said, “and found it by partnering with ProSperus, now we also can offer physicians a full-service consulting resource that enables them to capitalize on the current federal stimulus incentive for EMR adoption.” Through the American Relief and Recovery Act of 2009, reimbursements ranging from $44,000 to $64,000 for each physician will be made starting in 2011 and ending in 2014. To qualify for the incentive, physician practices must adopt certified EMRs that are able to exchange information with other healthcare entities such as labs, ancillary providers, pharmacies, etc. “We believe that GenPro will help our physicians select and implement the right EMR,” Lutz added.
